RAMADAN SPECIAL

CLASSIC TURKISH TASAVVUF MUSIC:

As the moon wanes and the nights of Ramadan deepen, the timeless reverberations of classic Turkish Tasavvuf Music rise like a fragrant incense, inviting listeners into a sanctuary of inner reflection and divine love.

Rooted in the mystic poetry of Mevlâna, Yunus Emre, and the 12th-13th century Sufi masters, these melodies traditionally unfold on the delicate strings of the bağlama, tambur, qanoun or oud, the resonant sigh of the ney, and the rhythmic pulse of the kudüm or def, weaving a tapestry of yearning that mirrors the soul’s quest for the eternity. Each sound in the candle‑lit ambiace becomes a spiritual journey, where the soaring makam of Hüzzam or the plaintive tones of Hicaz echo the fasting heart’s longing for mercy and enlightenment. Turkish Tasavvuf Music was used to treat mental patients, depression and stress.

In this Ramadan special, classic Turkish tasavvuf music is not merely a soundtrack; it is a living, breathing bridge between the earthly and the celestial, reminding us that every sunset and every move is harmonized by the eternal rhythm of love.

WIRLING DARWISHES:

During the holy month of Ramadan, the spiritual atmosphere reaches its peak with mesmerizing displays of devotion and tradition, such as the Whirling Darvishes performance—a profound expression of Islamic mysticism. Known as the "Sema" ceremony, this sacred ritual, rooted in the teachings of Rumi, showcases the whirling darvishes spinning in perfect rhythm, symbolizing the soul's journey towards divine love and unity. As the darvishes, dressed in flowing white robes and tall felt hats, rotate with graceful precision, they enter a meditative state, transcending the material world in reverence to Allah.

Held in historic mosques or cultural centers during Ramadan, these performances offer both locals and visitors a moment of reflection, peace, and spiritual connection, blending music, poetry, and movement into a breathtaking tribute to faith. The Whirling Darvishes show during Ramadan becomes not just a cultural spectacle, but a heartfelt reminder of the season’s deeper meaning—compassion, unity, and spiritual renewal.
