What Makes Us Unique?
Founded in 2021 in Doha, Qatar, MESK was born from the shared vision of Sinan Söyler and Yusuf İlker Karaaslan, two individuals united by their love of music and artistry.
Sinan Söyler, a Ney Flute master with over 14 years of experience and official recognition from the Turkish Ministry of Culture & Tourism, who also masters Turkish oud, cümbüş, percussion and a singer too, joined forces with Yusuf İlker Karaaslan, an airlines-tourism and marketing professional with 34 years of proven expertise and a life long passionate music enthusiast who had been for 18 years Turkish folk dances performer and instructor, also crafts and performs the Ney Flute for the past 6 years.
Their journey began modestly in a small Ney Flute atelier in West Bay, Doha, where they crafted Ney Flutes and performed Alaturka and other genres of Turkish music together. Soon, other talented musicians residing in Qatar joined their jam sessions and what began as an intimate collaboration quickly evolved into a collective of professional artists from diverse national backgrounds, giving rise to what is now known as MESK EVENTS.
Within a short time, more musicians and DJs became part of the ensemble, creating a vibrant artistic multinational community.
The composition titled “We departed from Edirne” was first performed in 2022 at the Ney Atelier in West Bay, Doha. Composed by Yusuf İlker Karaaslan in the Nikriz makam and Düyek rhythm, this piece was performed for the very first time together with Sinan Söyler.

One of MESK’s signature projects, Afrobesque (Afrobesk) — the globally recognized DJ & Ney Flute back-to-back duo featuring Ece İzbudak and Sinan Söyler — continues to perform at leading clubs and high-end venues across Qatar, Central Asia, the Middle East, and Europe.
